About Simon

Simon Jones has been the diligent Managing Director at Thermoplastic Engineering Limited (TPE) since 1995 and a majority shareholder from 1998. With a strong interest in ideas and concepts, he has steered TPE through many changes in the laboratory sector.

Simon’s early background in sales and the building industry lead to a sucessful career in sales, marketing and senior management with multi-national companies, and an MBA from Victoria University.

Simon has been involved with the plastics industry in various roles over a number of years and has a keen interest in ensuring TPE continues to design for a sustainable future. He has driven successful export sales into Asia with energy savings controllers, oversees TPE’s Australian operations, and is a director of a new joint venture, Opira Victoria Limited, which is based in Melbourne.

Simon enjoys spending time with his extensive extended family, is a keen weekend warrior on his mountain bike, and lives on a 40-hectare forestry block north of Wellington.

Jayne Bevan

About Jayne

Jayne, TPE’s Commercial Manager, is the first point of contact for both our customers and suppliers. Her key responsibilities are managing the daily operations of the company’s administration activities, overseeing staff development and internal processes, and working as part of the strategic leadership team to encourage continued business opportunity and success.

Jayne has spent more than 20 years in the manufacturing field, and understands the challenges and requirements of bringing projects from development to completion. With a passion for audited systems, Jayne has developed, written and implemented both Health and Safety and ISO Quality Control policies as part of her personal development and growth. With small-business accounting qualification and an HNC Business Management Certification, Jayne brings a diverse range of experience to her role.

Married to Paul, and with three adult sons, Jayne now enjoys the freedom to travel, appreciates the company of lifetime friends, and loves to unwind with a good read at the end of a productive day.

Hamish McClurg

Engineering Manager

About Hamish

As TPE’s Engineering Manager, Hamish McClurg is responsible for the design and delivery of innovative solutions to client problems.

His undergraduate degree in biotechnology gave him a keen interest in working with the laboratory sector to promote user safety and engineering efficiency. He began with Thermoplastic Engineering in a part time role while studying for the BEng Tech at Weltec (the Wellington Institute of Technology) in 2013, and oversaw TPE’s role in the build of the new Rutherford building at the University of Canterbury, Te Toki a Rata at the Victoria University of Wellington, and the Mellor Laboratories at the University of Otago.

He now manages a team of two other engineers and a CNC programmer/operator. Outside of work he teaches swing dancing, plays sports, and does a little motor racing as well as settling in to his new role as Dad to William.

Steven Seo

About Steven

Steven Seo brings his expertise as a Senior Engineer to TPE. Having graduated with a Mechatronics Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury, Steven joined TPE as a graduate Engineer. Since then, he has refined his skills through diverse projects, mentorship, and management guidance. He is committed to making positive contributions to business development and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Outside of work, Steven enjoys being out on the golf course with good companions.

Tourley Munro

About Tourley

As TPE’s Auckland-based  Business Development Manager for the Northern Region, Tourley specialises in sales and business development and enjoys nothing more than building relationships and helping to grow the TPE brand.

Having graduated with a BEngTech in Mechanical Engineering from AUT (Auckland University of Technology) and subsequently working as mechanical design engineer, Tourley joined TPE in October 2018.

Tourley’s role in fully understanding client requirements in order to provide suitable solutions has been key to maintaining TPE’s dominance in the Northern Region, and has facilitated strong growth. His personal dedication to building relationships of trust and customer satisfaction has meant that TPE frequently enjoys repeat business from its many happy customers.

Outside of work, Tourley enjoys getting out on the water fishing or into the hills for a hunt.

Rodney Moore

South Island Technical Sales Engineer

About Rodney

Joining the TPE team in Early 2024 From his base in Christchurch Rodney brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as the South Island Technical Sales Engineer. His background as a Fitter and Turner, coupled with his extensive experience in account management and engineering sales, equips him well to support and foster relationships with customers in the Southern Region. His blend of technical proficiency and interpersonal skills positions him as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring that their needs are not just met, but exceeded.

In his spare time, he enjoys heading for the mountains with Family and Friends equipped with Mountain bikes or skis.
